Gravel Inspiration - Les pavés du nord

If one was to be really pedantic churlish, then arguably riding on cobbles/pavés/kasseien isn’t really gravel riding, but as far as we’re concerned, off-road riding with drop bars and relatively skinny tyres all counts and we love all the Spring Classics for this very reason.

It turns out so does the team at Pachamama who sent over the details of their latest film project, which features Les Amis de Paris-Roubaix, a 350 strong group of volunteers from 17 different countries who come together to preserve the most important character of the Paris-Roubaix event – the granite cobblestones.

Each year this amazing group of unpaid volunteers put untold hours into maintaining and restoring the long stretches of pave which give the route of the Paris-Roubaix its character.

As part of the annual gathering of über-fans of the Spring Classics, Lia and Ibai from Orbea headed to northern France at the beginning of April and put together their own homage to the Hell of the North.

If you would like to replicate Lia and Ibai's route, you can follow it via komoot:
