Gravel Culture: Joining the gravel gang

Posted By Gravel Union On 28 October 2020

Back in August, Gravel Union reader Sophie Marr won our Cube NuRoad gravel bike competition and after collecting her prize in early September she’s become a dedicated gravellista.

After longing for a gravel bike last winter, all my dreams came true when I won one, and wow, what a bike I won!!!

Living in the north east of England, it’s safe to say we’re not guaranteed the prettiest of weather, but that hasn’t stopped me getting out, come rain or shine!

This new bike has given me a new level of confidence to get out in all conditions and explore more local areas I didn’t even know existed, such as parks, woods and local reservoirs. One ride even included a completely flooded path (approx. 30cm deep) and even that didn’t stop me getting through!

I’ve really loved the freedom that comes with gravel riding, I literally wrap up warm and head out with one goal: adventure!

I have great plans for the future with my new Cube, exploring further afield when we’re allowed!! Both, the west coast of Scotland and the East coast of Italy are on my “to do” list and who knows.... The competitive side in me might even want to do a gravel race!!!
