My name is Janosch Wintermantel and I oversee SCOTT’s global road, triathlon and gravel bike marketing.
Tell us about the bike and any unique features that it has?
Our SCOTT Gravel Speedster 10 has a very capable, light and stiff alloy frame and carbon fork to allow for more comfort on long, bumpy days in the saddle. With a Shimano GRX drivetrain, some rugged Schwalbe G-One tires and Syncros components, the Speedster Gravel 10 is well equipped for all bike adventures out there.
Who do you think is the target audience for your bike?
The bike is made for people who like to have a fast bike no matter the surface. It is an affordable race machine with great pedalling efficiency and vertical compliance. It is simply made for riders who like to travel fast.
What were the design objectives behind this bike?
To have a very capable alloy frame with good components at a great price value.
What real-world testing did you do with the bike?
We are in the lucky situation that all our bike engineers are also amazing riders and can test our bikes to the limit. Real world testing is a crucial part in the validation of the durability of our product and to complement computer simulation and laboratory testing.
Have you done anything to minimise the environmental impact of producing this bike?
The production of the Gravel Speedster 10 meets the strongest requirements that are required by SCOTT. The manufacturing site of this bike has fulfilled our environmental assessment and has also been audited according to our supplier code of conduct which covers social and environmental criteria. We have started to evaluate our Tier 2 and Tier 3 aluminium alloy suppliers, but it is a process that we have only just begun and we are unable to provide you with more information on the topic. We look forward to being able to update you in the future.
How do you see gravel riding developing in the future?
I believe that gravel will become way more than trend. Personally, I believe that a big chunk of road riders will switch to gravel in the next ten years.
